Experienced therapists in our physical medicine and rehabilitation department have advanced training and certifications physical, occupational and speech-language therapy. We can help people with practically any injury or impairment from head to toe. We work with you to set goals for your treatment and develop a plan of care. Our goal is to relieve your pain and help you regain your strength, swallowing function and communication to improve your quality of life.

Experienced Team of Rehabilitation Experts

Our highly trained staff and clinical professionals include licensed physical, occupational and speech-language therapists, therapy assistants and rehabilitation technicians. We provide high-quality, comprehensive care based on our education and certifications in many areas, including:

  • Vestibular therapy to improve balance and inner ear problems
  • Lymphedema therapy to reduce swelling after illness, injury or surgery such as mastectomy

 Physical Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Our team of occupational therapists offers advanced therapy for people with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary or rheumatologic (joint and muscle) disorders. We also help people with conditions that limit your hand and arm function or your ability to perform activities of daily living. Our goal is to help you regain as much independence as possible in your daily tasks at home and work. Our occupational therapy options include:

Speech-Language Pathology

Our speech-language therapists have specialized training to help people with many types of speech, voice and swallowing difficulties. We use the latest techniques for oral-motor exercises to help restore your ability to communicate and swallow and improve your quality of life. We provide therapy for conditions including:

  • Communication difficulties due to a tracheostomy (surgery to provide air passage through the neck into the windpipe)
  • Dysarthria (muscle weakness that causes speech problems)
  • Dysphasia (difficulty swallowing), which can lead to aspiration pneumonia (food or other substances being inhaled into the lungs instead of swallowed)
  • Post-concussion and traumatic brain injury
  • Postsurgery for laryngectomy and head and neck cancer
  • Progressive neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s disease
  • Stroke
  • Evaluation of swallowing problems using videofluoroscopic swallowing studies (video form of X-ray to record swallowing movement)
  • Evaluation of voice impairments using videostroboscopic voice examination (video exam of the vocal cords using a thin, flexible tube with a camera)

 Outpatient Rehab: What to Expect

Here’s what to expect during your first visit:

  • Bring your physician’s order/referral and any important test results such as X-ray and MRI reports, health insurance information and your photo ID.
  • Make sure to wear or bring clothing that is comfortable to move around in.
  • You can change clothes in our changing rooms and store your items in the lockers.
