Colon and rectal surgeons are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of colon, rectal and anal diseases. They have completed advanced training in this field following their training in general surgery.
“As colon and rectal surgeons we evaluate and treat a wide range of anal and rectal conditions, usually on an outpatient basis,” said Tim Heilizer, M.D., a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon and Fellow, American College of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. “We know that dealing with colon and rectal issues can feel uncomfortable and embarrassing. In our specialty, we talk about these concerns all the time.Your health, comfort, and peace of mind is our goal.”
Services
Though called “surgeons,” these specialists do not do surgery only. In fact, many of these types of patients do not need surgery. Often our physicians help patients adjust their diet or recommend supplemental medication that can resolve concerns. We provide screening exams that allow patients to keep on top of their colorectal health.
Our colon and rectal surgeons offer:
- Consults for anal pain, discomfort, bleeding and lumps
- Non-operative treatments for hemorrhoids, fissures and fecal incontinence
- Outpatient procedures for hemorrhoids and infections
- Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for diverticulitis or cancer
As colon and rectal surgeons we evaluate and treat a wide range of anal and rectal conditions, usually on an outpatient basis.
From bleeding hemorrhoids to painful bleeding.
From constipation to fecal incontinence.
From colonoscopy to laparoscopic colon surgery.
From screening to treatment.
From beginning of symptoms to the end of the disease.
