Named a Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence — Three Years in a Row!
Only Chicago Hospital to Earn Distinction 2010-2012
Did you know we ranked among the top 5 percent of U.S. hospitals for clinical performance in a new health care quality study, released on January 24, 2012?

HealthGrades named SMEMC a 2012 Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence™ — the third year in a row the medical center has earned this distinction as a top-performing hospital.
We are only one of four hospitals in Chicago, 20 in Illinois and 263 nationwide to earn this distinction in 2012. We are the only hospital in Chicago to receive this recognition three consecutive years — joining nine other hospitals in Illinois and 104 nationally.
The results were published in HealthGrades Hospital Quality and Clinical Excellence study, which objectively identified those hospitals with the best overall clinical performance across 26 medical diagnoses and procedures. HealthGrades, an independent health-care rating company, conducted the study to help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance.
Patients have access to a top-performing medical center — right in their neighborhood, close to home. Our doctors, nurses and staff provide high quality patient- and family-centered care that is compassionate and respectful. We partner with our patients and their families throughout their health care journeys so we can achieve the best possible health care experience.
