Saint Joseph performs the following procedures:
- Valve Replacement and Valve Reconstruction - These procedures are necessary for valves that are not functioning properly. Valve reconstruction or replacement restores competent valve function.
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) - This procedure involves using blood vessels from the leg, arm and chest wall to bypass blocked arteries. The bypass procedure restores adequate blood flow to the heart muscle. In addition to the conventional technique using standard incisions and a heart-lung machine, surgeons also use less-invasive techniques in appropriate patients.
- Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery - These techniques may accelerate patient recovery time and decrease length of stay for select patients. Saint Joseph Hospital offers the off-pump coronary artery bypass, which allows the surgeon to perform the operation on a beating heart without the need for a heart-lung machine.
- Radiofrequency Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation - This procedure involves destroying abnormal rhythm pathways in the atrium, leading to restoration of normal heart rhythm.
