Rami Lutfi, MD - Medical Director

We are led by Medical Director Rami Lutfi, M.D., F.A.C.S, a board-certified bariatric surgeon who has performed hundreds of procedures. He proctors other surgeons who wish to perform the LapBand® operation and has written extensively about the subject for leading medical journals. Learn more about Dr. Lutfi and his experience.
Supporting Dr. Lutfi is an experienced clinical team that includes a dietician, psychologist, insurance specialist and a bariatric coordinator who answers questions and guides you through the weight-loss process. These experts work together to give you the support you need - before, during and after your procedure.
Alexis Siegel, R.N., B.S., C.B.N. - Program Coordinator

- Bachelor's Degree in Science, St. Francis University, Joliet, Illinois
- American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Certified Bariatric Nurse
- Coordinates all aspects of patient care for the Institute
- Member American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Obesity Action Coalition, National Association of Bariatric Nurses, Bariatric Support Center International, Association of Operating Room Nurses
- Responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative assessment and education for all weight loss patients
- Serve in an active role for bariatric information sessions, pre-operative classes, and post-operative support groups
Patient Care Philosophy: Providing compassionate, multidisciplinary, educational and personalized care, guidance and support for the bariatric patient population.
Footnote: Alexis underwent a laparoscopic roux-en-y gastric bypass in 2003. Since that time, she has maintained a healthy lifestyle and weight.
Kim Mahoney M.S, R.D, L.D.N - Program Dietician

- Member of the American Dietetic Association, Illinois Dietetic Association & Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group
- Completed Master's Thesis on the quality of life after bariatric surgery
- Certified in Adult Weight Management
- Bariatric Sub-unit Chair for the Weight Management practice group of the American Dietetic Association
- Responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative assessment and education for all weight loss patients
- Serve in an active role for bariatric information sessions, pre-operative classes, and post-operative support groups
