The cardiac rehabilitation program offers a comprehensive curriculum of exercise, education and support designed to help patients with heart disease to safely resume active and productive lives, and reduce the risk of further heart problems.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at Saint Francis Hospital offers two stages of rehab, phases 2 and 3.
- Phase 2 - This outpatient program begins after the patient’s hospital discharge following a heart attack, angioplasty, coronary bypass surgery or stable angina. During Phase 2, patients learn how to take an active role in their own health care.
- Phase 3 - Phase 3 sessions focus on continuing lifestyle changes through behavior modification. Independence is encouraged as patients exercise and improve their fitness levels. A cardiac stress test and physician’s referral/prescription are required for participation in Phase 3.
Medicare and Insurance
Please check with your individual insurance company regarding program coverage. Medicare and private insurance companies may cover the cost of Phase 2.
