The Women's Imaging Center, which is conveniently located in the Resurrection Medical Center (RMC) Professional Building (Entrance B) conducts routine mammography, breast ultrasound, osteoporosis screenings and interventional breast procedures.

You'll benefit from our convenient daytime, evening, and weekend hours, hospital services support for those with specialized needs, and a pre-authorization specialist to help you with your insurance needs.

We Offer:

  • Digital Mammography - Our new mammography system is a powerful screening tool that provides clear and precise all-digital images with the largest field of view currently available.
  • Breast Ultrasounds - An advanced ultrasound system for breast imaging delivers outstanding image uniformity and resolution so doctors can review high quality images.
  • Stereotactic Core Breast Biopsy - When a biopsy is needed, stereotactic core breast biopsy is an accurate, minimally invasive way to retrieve questionable tissue. Using X-rays, a computer guides the biopsy needle to the precise location and collects several samples. More accurate and less costly than traditional techniques, stereotactic core breast biopsy requires only a local anesthetic.
  • Bone Mineral Density Test (BMD) - The only way to diagnose osteoporosis and determine risk for fracture is with a Bone Mineral Density test, which is accurate, painless and non-invasive. The Women's Imaging Center uses Dexa scanning of the spine and hip to screen and monitor for osteoporosis.

Our technology:

  • GE (General Electric) Senographe DMR units
  • R2 Image Checker DMAX system
  • GE Logic 9 Ultrasound unit with TruScan imaging technology
  • GE Lunar Prodigy DEXA Scanner
  • Fischer Mammotest plus/s prone stereotactic breast biopsy system

RMC's Women's Imaging Center has been designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellences by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR has accredited the center in Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Breast Ultrasound and Ultrasound-Guided Breast Biopsy procedures.

How do I prepare?

  • Mammogram and Breast Ultrasound - On the day of the mammogram, you will be asked to avoid using powders or deodorants because many brands contain substances that are visible on the x-ray. You should also avoid caffeine until after your mammogram as it may make your breast tissue more tender and lumpy increasing discomfort during the exam. If you have had previous mammograms at another facility please bring them with you so the Radiologist can make a comparison at the time of your appointment for prompt complete interpretation of your images.
  • Bone Mineral Density Test (BMD) - Do not take any calcium supplements the same day. Undissolved calcium may appear in the area of interest and may interfere with accurate bone density measurements. This exam requires you to lie on your back. Please let your physician know if you are unable to do this. You must be at least 21 years old and less than 300 pounds for this exam. Bone Mineral Density scans should be performed prior to any same day CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine or other radiology procedures (IVP, barium studies, UGI, LGI) that may involve contrast material. Patients, who have had recent contrast, may have residual material that could interfere with the exam. This will result in cancellation and rescheduling. If you are unable to schedule your exam before a procedure that involves contrast then please allow 5 days to pass before scheduling.
