Supporting your child’s development

Children develop at different paces and reach milestones at the stage that’s appropriate for them. While variations from child to child can be perfectly normal, there are times when an experienced professional can help.

Whether your child needs support for a speech/language delay, a developmental delay or a hearing problem, Resurrection Medical Center’s pediatric therapists can help. Our licensed team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists and audiologists provides comprehensive developmental evaluation and treatment for newborns, children and young adults through age 21.

Many of our pediatric therapists have special certifications or authorizations to provide services to children receiving funding from Illinois Early Intervention (EI) and Illinois Department of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC).

Pediatric Audiology Therapy Servides

The pediatric specialists in Audiology are dedicated to obtaining accurate test results and providing high technology and practical care. Our team of audiology professionals has extensive experience in working with children. Many of them are certified with specialized pediatric agencies to provide diagnostics, rehabilitation, and hearing aids/assistive listening devices. We continually update our skills and knowledge through advanced continuing education. Although we work with all children from birth on, we do have specific specializations for children with developmental and medical disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, premature infants, and other children who are difficult to test.

Our goal is to prevent hearing loss, diagnose hearing problems, refer appropriately, and provide services to help the child and family have the best auditory communication possible. Hearing is a critical component to communication, socialization, emotional status, education, and vocational status. Finding ways to improve temporary hearing loss/communication problems and assist all children experiencing hearing loss is of utmost importance.

We work with both the child and family to achieve functional goals to meet the needs of each individual child. We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of children with deficits in the following areas: fine and gross motor skills, visual perceptual/visual motor skills, sensory integration/modulation, activities of daily living, hypotonia/hypertonia, upper extremity fractures, etc. Our goal is to assist the child in developing to their fullest potential in order to participate in meaningful life occupations, such as play, self-care, and other activities in school, home, and the community.
