2009 Monarch Ball
More than 1,000 guests attended the 15th Anniversary Monarch Ball, a black-tie benefit for Resurrection Health Care on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the Hilton Chicago Hotel and Towers. They were treated to Indian dancers, Chinese dragon dancers and a surprise performance by 7-year-old child pianist and composer Emily Bear of Rockford.
Dick Johnson of NBC5 Chicago served as the master of ceremonies, and Francis Cardinal George, Archbishop of Chicago, offered an inspirational message before dinner. Sandra Bruce, Resurrection Health Care's President and CEO, thanked the crowd for their support of the Resurrection Health Care mission and for welcoming her to Chicago.
Headline entertainment was a rousing concert by Dennis DeYoung: The Music of STYX. A native of Chicago, DeYoung shared many of the band's most popular hits including "Show Me The Way," "Lady," "Come Sail Away," and "Mr. Roboto."
Two Resurrection Health Care employees chaired the gala celebration: Peter Goschy and Mary Anne Harper. This celebration of employees takes on special meaning this year because Resurrection was recently ranked in the Top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare Magazine.
Proceeds from The Monarch Ball will benefit the West Suburban College of Nursing.
