Meet a Development Director
Matching donor passion with hospital needs

Susan Ende is a familiar face around Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where she directs the philanthropy efforts.
Here's a typical day for Susan. Together with Dr. Alberto Foschi, Medical Director of the Paul Galvin Heart Center, she meets with a loyal donor to discuss how to enhance the Center's capabilities and the need for new cardiology equipment.
Later in the day Susan joins physicians and staff who are planning a much-needed Cancer Center for the hospital. Many Saint Francis donors are interested in cancer-related care and programs.
Susan also works closely with the Saint Francis Auxiliary, Women's Board and the Associates of the Saint Francis Community Health Center as they plan service projects, golf outings, fashion shows and recognition dinners throughout the year.
Susan hails from Iowa and has been a Chicago resident since 1967. She has worked as a fundraiser for some of Chicago's most prominent health and social service organizations, including the Partnership Program of Northwestern Memorial Hospital/Northwestern University, Children's Memorial Foundation, the Girl Scouts of Chicago and the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago.
"From our physicians and nursing staff to our volunteers and donors, we are blessed to have such wonderful partnerships that make Saint Francis Hospital the special place that it is," she said.
"Susan has qualities that are great assets to her role. She is focused, dependable and never loses sight of the goal," said long-time colleague Pat McKinlay.
Susan lives with her husband in Barrington. She may be reached at 847-316-2149.
