Sophisticated Cardiopulmonary Monitoring System Benefits Patients
Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center's sophisticated cardiopulmonary monitoring system advances individualized cardiac rehabilitation programs. "This monitoring system for cardiac rehabilitation patients dynamically improves our ability to monitor the status of patients during rehabilitation from cardiovascular disease," says David L. Fishman, M.D., Medical Director, Section of Cardiology.
The comprehensive, computer-based system provides sophisticated monitoring capability for patients involved in an exercise schedule prescribed as a part of a cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation program. Monitoring takes place while patients exercise in the hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation/Fitness Center.
Software designed specifically for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patients enables the system to generate comprehensive outcomes data of patient information and detailed exercise session information. Customized capabilities allow illustrating a patient’s progress from program start to finish, tracking resting and exercise data and comparing clinical, behavioral and health data for identified intervals.
Patients who benefit from the new monitoring system are enrolled in the hospital's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program, Phase III: Lifestyle Modification, which helps heart patients and people concerned about their cardiac health develop a healthy lifestyle.
