Iyad Alkhouri, MD
Dr. Alkhouri received his medical degree from Damascus University in Syria. Following medical school, he served a mandatory two years in the Syrian army as a medical officer. Following his military service, Dr. Alkhouri practiced as a general practitioner in rural areas of Syria until he was able to come to the United States. He completed a residency in psychiatry at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Then he completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He also completed a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati. He is board certified in the following areas: psychiatry and neurology, addiction psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry.
Dr. Alkhouri is the medical director at Resurrection Behavioral Health - Addiction Services in Downers Grove, where he provides outpatient substance abuse treatment and evaluations for both adults and adolescents. He is also the medical director of the clinical team that provides the multidisciplinary assessment program, a two to three day comprehensive behavioral assessment of physicians and other professionals.
