About Our Services

Open MRI

The Imaging Center offers an alternative to the traditional cylindrical [closed] MRI scanners. The scanner we use is an "open" MRI and is a state-of-the-art machine that offers advanced imaging capability and extra comfort for you. Its "open" design and extra wide table easily accommodates large patients as well as those who may have other specialized needs that make them unsuitable candidates for a traditional MRI.

While in the scanner, magnets send magnetic waves through your body to produce the images. When this is occurring, there is typically a beating sound of the magnets within the machine. A popular feature of our scanner is the Soft Sound gradients, which make the scanning substantially more quiet. To maximize your comfort during the exam, a two-way intercom system provides continuous communication between you and the technologist. Music can also be played during the scan to help you relax. The Open MRI scans that we perform include:

X-Ray is used during general exams for injured or ill patients, as well as for physicals or sports injuries.

As a health care leader and the largest Catholic health care system in Illinois, Resurrection Health Care accepts a wide range of HMOs, PPOs and other insurance plans. In addition, Medicare and Medicaid is accepted.

Because of the numerous variations in health insurance plans, please contact your insurance carrier or employer to verify the specific coverage for MRI services. In many cases you will need to have your doctor obtain an authorization number prior to service.
