Sleep Diagnostic Centre

Sleeping is a vital part of the life that provides energy for adequate functioning.  Yet, in spite of its utmost importance, more than 100 million Americans of all ages fail to get a regular night's sleep.  For some, the problem may be temporary.  Others, however, are affected by sleep disorders that consistently make it difficult for them to snooze at night and to stay awake during the day.

Depending on the type of sleep disorder, people with inadequate sleep may experience fatigue, irritability, depression, illness, inability to concentrate, weight gain, and lost productivity.  In many cases, an increased risk for high blood pressure, heart failure, stroke, fatigue-related motor vehicle accidents, and workplace mishaps is inevitable.  All sleeping and waking disorders lead to a lowered quality of life and can compromise personal health and the safety of others.  The first step to getting a better night's rest is a sleep evaluation.

The specialists at Presence St. Mary's Sleep Diagnostic Centre are dedicated to improving the quality of sleep for their patients.  We provide a safe and receptive outpatient facility serving patients 14 years of age and older.  The Sleep Diagnostic Centre consists of a clinic for consultations with a physician specializing in sleep medicine as well as a laboratory for testing.

Sleep studies, or polysomnograms, are conducted seven days a week with an appointment and a referral from a physician.  Studies are arranged to accommodate your normal sleep pattern, including second and third shift work schedules.  Laboratory services include diagnostic and split night sleep studies, CPAP and BiPAP titration/re-titration studies, multiple sleep latency tests, and maintenance of wakefulness tests.   Most insurance plans cover sleep assessment as well as sleep diagnostic and treatment procedures.

For those patients needing treatment for sleep apnea, we provide a unique service regarding CPAP/BiPAP equipment set-up post-study.  Please call the Sleep Diagnostic Centre for details.

If you have difficulty obtaining a good night's rest or any sleep disorder-associated symptom, please contact the Sleep Diagnostic Centre.  Early detection is important for your long-term health.
