The thought of any medical procedure can be scary, but take comfort knowing you can depend on Presence Mercy Medical Center for the most advanced surgical services in the area. We have developed a dedicated Surgery Center with never-before-available tools, technology and resources that are helping to revolutionize patient care. Thanks to our highly-accomplished surgeons and support staff, you don’t have to leave Aurora to benefit from the best possible outcome to your medical procedure.
Our 100,000 square-foot surgery center is designed to ensure our surgeons are equipped with best-in-class technology to provide reduced operating times and better patient outcomes in a comfortable environment. We offer minimally invasive procedures for fewer incisions and faster recovery. We’re one of only three hospitals in the country to offer an uninterrupted power supply system to further ensure the safety and comfort of our patients.
Access to timely, accurate data is crucial during surgery. Our surgical suites are equipped with computer stations that allow our surgeons to access stored images such as x-rays, teleconferencing and video equipment, and hands-free command of equipment through voice activation. Technology is being developed on the same platform that will allow for image-guided surgery, robotics and progressive-scan camera equipment.
Presence Mercy Medical Center has been ranked in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for heart surgery. We’re also proud of our leading-edge, multi-disciplinary robotic surgery program, led by our experts in da Vinci® urologic, gynecologic and general surgery, Dr. Layne Rousseau and Dr. Mario Zapata. And Dr. Juan Bonilla, one of a few Chicago-area doctors certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery, performs procedures at Mercy.
Our Surgery Center was designed to meet the surgery needs of our Aurora, Oswego and Batavia communities while focusing on the in-demand areas of care. Our 12 operating rooms include two suites designed specifically for performing minimally invasive procedures. The Center also features two gastroenterology laboratories, 19 short-stay rooms and 21 post-anesthesia recovery bays.
We understand that undergoing surgery is a stressful time, so we’ve strived to create a comfortable environment to help our patients and families feel more at ease: rooms and waiting areas are equipped with flat screen TVs, and we offer a welcoming waiting lounge with a café. And for our patients’ convenience, we have a freestanding two-level building adjacent to the hospital with its own parking and separate entrance to provide easy access for outpatient care.
