We know facing a hospital stay is stressful for everyone in the family, and our Pediatrics staff is committed to caring for children as well as their families.

Hospitalization can be frightening for youngsters. The hospital stay may be their first separation from the cozy comfort of home and family.
To help children better understand and deal with hospitalization, we invite them to tour the surgery center and Pediatric Unit prior to their hospital stay. Prior to surgery, families can meet the anesthesiologists and, when possible, the nurses they'll interact with the day of surgery.
The goal is to help your child understand what it will be like to be a patient in our hospital.
A pre-admission visit also reduces the apprehensions and fears children understandably have and helps us to get to know your child better, so we can make the hospital stay as comfortable as possible.
Sometimes parents are more nervous about a hospital stay than are our young patients. We involve parents or guardians in as much of the child's hospital care as possible.
Parents may participate in feeding, bathing, changing diapers, and administering medications, and sometimes measuring the child's intake and output of liquids and solids.
Our primary concern is that you are comfortable with these activities. If because of other family obligations you are unable to participate, you can rest assured that your child is well cared for.
