  • Gold-standard accreditation: The American College of Radiology (ACR) has accredited our imaging centers in specialties such as computed tomography (CT), interventional breast ultrasound, mammography, medical imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, stereotactic core breast biopsy and ultrasound, among others. Many of our mammography centers have earned the Breast Center of Excellence designation from the ACR.

Our radiologic technologists are accredited by the ACR and certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Our sonographers are certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and our nuclear medicine technologists are certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.

Advanced Imaging Services at Presence Health

  • 3D Mammography: 3D breast imaging provides exceptionally sharp images for visualizing the finest details from many different angles, increased accuracy and the ability to help detect breast cancer earlier than ever before.
  • 64-Slice Computerized Tomography (CT): The 64-slice CT scanner captures images at a remarkable speed, taking just seconds to scan the whole body. Exceptional image clarity and a high level of detail allow our doctors to diagnose diseases throughout the body, including cancer and cardiac conditions.
  • Bone Density Scan: Using technology such as dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) or quantitative computed tomography (QCT), the density of the bones is evaluated to diagnose osteoporosis and determine the risk for fractures,
  • Capsule Endoscopy: With capsule endoscopy, thousands of images are painlessly recorded while the patient goes about a normal day after swallowing a capsule with a tiny camera that moves naturally through the GI tract to determine the cause of pain or bleeding.
  • Computerized Tomography (CT): CT scans provide information about soft tissues within the body such as the liver, brain and lungs using computer-enhanced x-ray images, including 64-slice CT, which features low-dose radiation and extremely detailed images for clearer diagnostics in just minutes. A cardiac CT scan is a non-invasive heart-imaging test for determining whether fatty or calcium deposits have built up in the coronary arteries. Left untreated, these deposits can cause heart disease.
  • Digital Angiography: Digital angiography offers patients greater comfort and faster diagnostic and interventional procedures. Using fully digital technology, it provides a real-time image with greater detail, less radiation exposure, a much larger field of view and less distortion.
  • Digital Mammography: An advanced imaging technology noted for its ability to emphasize contrasts and identify abnormalities that may not be as visible on traditional film mammography. It can be particularly beneficial for women with dense or thick breasts, women under age 50, and pre- and peri-menopausal women.
    • Digital X-ray: In addition to lower-dose radiation and superior images for more accurate diagnosis, digital x-rays are easier to share with your doctor or other specialist.
    • Electrophysiology Services: For irregular heartbeats, our expert teams of heart rhythm specialists in our electrophysiology labs precisely map the heart's electrical system to determine exactly where a problem originates.
  • Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT): Our linear accelerators with IMRT use a radiation dose that perfectly conforms to the 3D shape of a malignant tumor or to specific areas within the tumor while sparing normal tissue, allowing for higher doses of radiation to be delivered safely.
  • Interventional Imaging: These procedures are minimally-invasive, targeted treatments performed with the use of real-time imaging such as vascular CT, MRI or ultrasound. Physicians guide tiny instruments, such as catheters, through the blood vessels or other pathways to treat problems without major surgery. Procedures are generally easier for the patient because they involve no large incisions, less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): Among the most advanced of all diagnostic tools, MRI is a non-invasive technology utilizing a magnetic scanner, radio waves and computerized graphics to produce highly detailed images of body tissue. For additional patient comfort without sacrificing image quality, Presence Health offers Wide Bore MRI, which has a wider opening, as well as Open MRI. We also offer Cardiac MRI, which provides clear, detailed pictures of the heart so physicians can determine the extent of damage caused by a heart attack or progressive heart disease.
  • Nuclear Imaging: Nuclear medicine visualizes specific organs within the body by injecting a radiopharmaceutical agent into the bloodstream. Procedures include heart perfusion, bone, liver, lung and gall bladder scans. Nuclear imaging produces detailed images that show how well a patient’s internal organs are functioning and helps with disease and treatment monitoring and pre-surgery planning.
  • PET/CT Scan: A positron emission tomography scan can be combined with computerized tomography in a two-in-one medical imaging system that allows doctors to quickly determine whether cancer is present, if it is spreading, whether current treatment is working and if there is a recurrence.
  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET): PET scans allow for earlier diagnosis of cancers than other technology. A wealth of information about the function of the body's organs is provided, even at the cellular level.
  • Stereotactic Breast Biopsy: Removes tissue samples from the breast using a needle guided by a computer-controlled system using visual coordinates taken from a mammogram.
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery: Stereotactic radiosurgery is a nonsurgical approach that uses a computer to aim highly focused beams of radiation directly at brain tumors and other abnormalities within the head.
  • Ultrasound: Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves passed through the body to produce an image with great detail, including 3D and 4D imaging. Procedures include vascular flow, gynecologic, abdominal, intraoperative, breast and fetal ultrasound scans.
  • Vascular ultrasound evaluates the placement and success of repair to the heart such as following arterial bypass surgery.
