Undergrad/Grad School/Degree: Hanover College, Hanover, IN
Medical School: University of Louisville School of Medicine
Hobbies/Interests: I love to play soccer and watch football, college basketball, and baseball (not Cubs or Sox but the Cincinnati Reds!). I like to watch movies, read, and spend time with friends/family, and, every once in a while if I'm feeling motivated, I attempt to cook.
Why I chose Saint Joseph: Although I was impressed with both the academics and strength of the program, I chose St. Joe's because of the awesome people. Each faculty member at both the hospital and Seton Clinic treats you like a colleague, while also taking the time to teach you the clinical knowledge that will allow you to become an excellent physician. Additionally, you can tell that the residents work well together and legitimately care for each other, which was very important to me in choosing a program. The sweet view of the lake in the summertime from the hospital doesn't hurt either.
Favorite place or activity in Chicago: I love the lakeside in Chicago, especially when the weather is nice. There's nothing better than taking a nice jog through Lincoln Park and North Ave Beach after a long day at the office.
If I had not gone into medicine what I would be doing now: If talent, experience, and qualifications weren't a factor, I would probably either be a professional baseball player or maybe musician or something like that. However, a little more realistically, if I hadn't gone into medicine, I probably would have been a part of the third generation of Heitz's to run the family sign business back in home in Indiana.
