Poonam Thaker, MD

Poonam Thaker, MD, is board certified in Family Medicine and has her Certificate of Added Qualification in Primary Care Sports Medicine. She earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and her medical degree from Rosalind Franklin University/The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Ill.
She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Resurrection Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. She conducted her Sports Medicine Fellowship training at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill. After Fellowship, Dr. Thaker joined a private Occupational and Sports Medicine practice in Chicago. In 2009, she returned to Resurrection Medical Center to become part of the faculty at the Resurrection Family Medicine Residency and the Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Dr. Thaker is currently the Medical Director of North Park University's athletic training program in addition to being their Head Team Physician. She is also the Team Physician at Ridgewood High School and Resurrection High School. She is the Medical Director of the Men's Health Chicago Urbanathlon, and Associate Director of the BikeMS Tour de Farms.
Dr. Thaker has been a volunteer physician for the 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Chicago Marathons and the 2006 Chicago Triathlon. She was also a volunteer physician in Kona, Hawaii at the 2005 Ironman World Championship Triathlon.
While in Carbondale, Dr. Thaker was a team physician for the Southern Illinois Salukis, the John A. Logan College Volunteers, and the Carterville High School Lions. In her Chicago private practice, Dr. Thaker was a team physician for the Chicago State University Cougars.
Dr. Thaker is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine. She has presented at the 55th Annual Meeting American College of Sports Medicine and the Annual Meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Health Association. She continues to conduct research in Primary Care Sports Medicine and is involved with the community. When she is not taking care of athletes, she enjoys playing soccer.

Dr. Michael Ladewski, M.D.
Associate Director
Dr. Ladewski graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Resurrection Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident in 2008. He went on to complete the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Resurrection Medicine Center in 2009. He is board certified in Family Medicine and holds a certificate of added qualifications in Primary Care Sports Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Ladewski covers various Chicagoland high school sporting events and the athletic training room at Resurrection High School. In addition, Dr. Ladewski has covered the Chicago Marathon and local endurance events. He has contributed to 5 Minute Clinical Consult for Sports Medicine and has presented at the ACSM national conference and multiple local conferences. His personal interests include running, triathlon and playing sports with his young children.

Christopher Mahr, MD
Sports Medicine
Dr. Mahr completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Illinois and then went on to do an arthroplasty and sports medicine fellowship in Australia. He is assisting in developing the orthopedic component of the fellowship and serves as one of our orthopedic preceptors here at Resurrection.

Brian McCall, MD
Sports Medicine
Dr. McCall completed his orthopedic residency at Georgetown University and has recently completed a sports medicine fellowship under the direction of world-renowned orthopedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews in Alabama. He is assisting in developing the orthopedic component of the fellowship and serves as one of our orthopedic preceptors here at Resurrection.
