The obstetrics and gynecology residency is a four-year AOA accredited program based at Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. The program is approved and funded for 17 positions in obstetrics and gynecology. This program is open to individuals who have graduated from an accredited school of osteopathic medicine. Individuals can apply after completing a one-year AOA approved rotating Internship, or may apply directly for an Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency.
The residents train within a consortium model through core sites affiliated with MWU-OPTI. This consortium of hospitals and clinical experience provides the necessary patient population, learning opportunities and guidance necessary to assist the resident in becoming a skilled obstetrician/gynecologist to attain board certification.
Ample opportunity for procedures and clinical patient encounters for residents at all levels of training is provided. We meet our educational mission by utilizing dedicated, residency trained and board certified teaching attending physicians with diverse interests in all areas of the specialty and sub-specialty areas. Each physician member dedicates time for journal clubs, lectures, and advisory on resident research.
Residents become proficient in caring for the obstetrical and gynecological patient. They are exposed to MIGS robotics surgery, ultrasound and ambulatory settings with 'office-based' practice.
Residents play an active role in their residency, including teaching students, giving lecture presentations, and research production. Resident feedback is obtained regularly on the quality of rotations and the assessment of the resident-attending interaction. We take pride in caring for the community regardless of race, religion or insurance status.
The cornerstone of success for obstetrics and gynecology training is obtaining the knowledge, comfort, and expertise to practice in this field. Our consortium model stimulates clinical development where we build camaraderie, develop long lasting peer relationships, and have patient encounters that impact us for the rest of our lives.
