MICU Rotation at Resurrection Medical Center
On this rotation you are part of the critical care team, working closely with the intensivists and critical care nurses in managing the daily care of a 13 bed MICU.
As a first-year EM-resident, you are responsible for new admissions, anywhere from 3-5 patients during the weekdays, and all the patients overnight when on-call.
Interns are on-call every fourth night with the help of an in-house hospitalist as well as the eICU system (an off-site intensivist help with access to real-time information). Opportunities for procedures are abundant. This rotation is consistently ranked as the best off-service rotation.
