SjH will support J-1 visa applications for residents and fellows through sponsorship by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

The H-1, Temporary Worker visa, allows its holder to work only for a specified employer. It requires substantial additional documentation and sponsorship by SJH. Any unusual costs associated with an H-1 visa will be guaranteed by the residency program, such as a return plane ticket if the resident is discharged before the visa expires. Any applications fees are the responsibility of the resident.
