Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center Recognizes Local Teacher With Community Service Award

Joel Spear, M.D.

Chicago (June 2, 2014) — Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center presented its 2014 Inspire Award for community service to Lincoln Square resident Amber Richard on May 29. Richard is assistant principal of the Dr. Jorge Prieto Math and Science Academy, located in the Belmont-Cragin area.

The Inspire Award is presented annually to a community organization or leader who exemplifies the values that inspire the hospital’s community outreach. It also recognizes inspirational leadership that advances the well-being of the community.

Richard initiated a partnership between the academy and the hospital to help area students and families foster good health. She is a member of the hospital’s Community Health Needs Assessment Steering Committee, and contributed to the health needs assessment and health program strategy  implementation. She introduced the chronic illness action team to the school, whereby the team works with parents and students to prevent chronic illness through education and activity.

“We are very proud to have Amber Richard accept our Inspire Award,” said John Baird, president and CEO of Presence Resurrection Medical Center, Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center and Presence Holy Family Medical Center. “Amber’s commitment to helping improve the health and well-being of her school community is admirable.”
