Holocaust Remembrance Day
Yom HaShoah 2014
The Diversity Committee of Presence Saint Francis Hospital is hosting a special event in observance of Yom Hashoah—Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday, April 28, 2014, 12 p.m. in the hospital auditorium. It will be a time to reflect during meaningful songs and shared stories with special guests.
Following a five-minute video, “The Auschwitz Album,” Charlene Brooks, cantorial soloist from Congregation Bene Shalom in Skokie, and daughter of two Holocaust survivors, will present a song prior to hearing from special guest speaker Agnes Schwartz.
Agnes Schwartz, who survived the Holocaust in Budapest, will share her story of survival as the main presentation. A Skokie resident, she is a member of the Speakers Bureau at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center.
Michael Doyle from spiritual services will wrap up the hour by sharing the modern perspective on the tragic past. Employees and members of the community are encouraged to attend and bring a brown bag lunch. The Holocaust Remembrance Day is scheduled for approximately one hour.
