Presence Saint Francis Hospital Wound Healing Center Recognized for Healing Wounds and Changing Lives
Evanston, Illinois. (July 1, 2013)– Physicians, leaders and clinicians gathered recently at Presence Saint Francis Hospital to celebrate the Center of Distinction Award, which was given to the hospital’s Wound Healing Center by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Center has achieved outstanding patient outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction over 92 percent and a 91 percent wound healing rate within 30 median days to heal, among other quality outcomes. The award was presented by Carolyn Shinn, senior director of clinical operations at Healogics, Inc.
The Presence Saint Francis Hospital Wound Healing Center is a member of the Healogics network of more than 500 centers, which provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating over two million chronic wounds. Of these centers, only 110 qualified for the Center of Distinction award, making the program “the best of the best,” according to Diane Zintak, program director. In the Presence Saint Francis Wound Healing Center, more than 1,016 patients in the community were provided specialized treatment for chronic and non-healing wounds since the center’s opening in 2008.
Rick Lavacchi, vice president for professional services at Presence Saint Francis Hospital, commented on the award. “Our Wound Healing Center heals chronic wounds of patients who might otherwise experience an amputation or other life-threatening conditions. We are proud to provide this specialized and needed service to our community."
“We’re honored,” said Diane Zintak, director of the Wound Healing Center. “It’s a privilege to be part of a great collaborative effort between the hospital, physicians and Healogics. Together, we are able to heal patients in our community, getting them get back to living happy, healthy lives.”
