Presence Health Announces New Senior Leadership at Three Chicago Hospitals
Integrated Management Team Begins New Planning Process for More Collaborative Health Care Delivery in Northwest Chicago
(CHICAGO)—Presence Health President and CEO Sandra Bruce today announced senior leadership changes affecting three Chicago hospitals. John Baird has been appointed as the new CEO of both Presence Our Lady of the Resurrection (Presence OLR) and Presence Resurrection Medical Center (Presence RMC) on Chicago’s Northwest side. Martin Judd will leave his post as CEO of Presence OLR to serve as the CEO of Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center (Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth) in the Wicker Park neighborhood. Judd replaces Margaret McDermott, who announced her retirement on February 6, 2013.
“John’s leadership of this integrated management team will be instrumental as we embark on a collaborative planning process to determine how we can best use the resources at Presence OLR and Presence RMC to meet the needs of residents in these adjoining communities now and well into the future,” Bruce said. “Both campuses will remain vibrant centers of care and employment under any new model that we adopt as a result of this integrated approach.”
Presence OLR and Presence RMC are located just four miles apart and draw patients from many of the same neighborhoods on Chicago’s Northwest side and the surrounding suburbs. Currently, 40 percent of the Presence OLR medical staff also practice at Presence RMC. Approximately 3,400 cases from Presence OLR are transferred annually to Presence RMC for specialty services. The hospitals already collaborate on a number of community health initiatives that can be strengthened by working more closely together.
Planning efforts will focus on integrating the complementary strengths of the two hospitals and determining how to make even greater improvements in quality, operating efficiency, coordination of care and the overall patient experience. Both hospitals have recently completed a community needs assessment and the results of those studies will play a critical role in the planning phase.
Baird has been President and CEO at Presence RMC since 2011 and prior to that was the CEO of Presence Holy Family Medical Center (Presence Holy Family) from 2005 -2011. Baird is credited with the successful turnaround and transformation of Presence Holy Family from a general acute care hospital to a highly successful LTACH (long-term acute care hospital) with robust services.
Judd has served in the role of President and CEO at Presence OLR since 2011 and has over 22 years of senior leadership experience with Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth having served most recently in the role of Vice President of Professional Services. Judd was key to the development and implementation of the integration plan to create Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth.
