Saint Joseph Hospital’s “Lift a Spirit” Fundraiser for Labouré Clinic to Be Held on May 5, 2011
8th Annual Fundraiser to help the Labouré Clinic at Saint Joseph Hospital
will provide health care to underserved Chicagoans
CHICAGO, Ill., MARCH 23 – Saint Joseph Hospital in Lincoln Park announced today that the 8th Annual "Lift a Spirit" Benefit for its Labouré Clinic will be held at Germania Place (108 W. Germania Place) in Chicago’s Gold Coast from 6:30pm to 9:30pm on May 5, 2011. The event will be a “Cinco de Mayo” celebration featuring silent and live auctions, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres.
Proceeds will help the Labouré Clinic at Saint Joseph Hospital continue providing much-needed, high quality health care services to underserved Chicago families and individuals. The Labouré Clinic also serves as a teaching facility for 130 medical residents each year and has been serving the community for 25 years.
What sets the Labouré Clinic apart is its comprehensive family health facility, with three areas of care including general adult, women’s services and pediatrics. Many of those it serves are working poor who could not otherwise afford the health care they desperately need and deserve.
The Labouré Clinic has 16 employees, many of whom are bilingual have been with Saint Joseph Hospital and its ambulatory clinics for more than 30 years. Physicians and staff encourage patients to return for check-ups and other medical needs. This helps prevent complications, additional ailments and hospitalizations.
Last year’s 7th Annual "Lift a Spirit" Benefit for the Labouré Clinic was held at the International Museum of Surgical Science. More than 225 guests helped raise a record $45,000. This year’s goal is $100,000 – more than twice last year’s fundraising total. To see photos from last year’s event, please visit facebook.com/liftaspirit.
Generous sponsors include Jamerson & Bauwens Electrical Contractors, Power Construction, Square D/Schneider Electric, Ronald Santella, Leslee Carver, Dr. Richard Spangler, Dr. and Mrs. Hilliard Slavick, Walgreens, Superior Ambulance, Beyond the Ivy and David Yurman Jewelry Store. Auction items range from beautifying medi-spa treatments to luxurious yacht parties and Montana ski vacations.
“We are pleased to continue what has become a venerable Chicago tradition,” says 2011 “Lift a Spirit” Committee Member Jeff Kilburg. “We warmly welcome everyone to participate in this exciting event, knowing that their contributions will make an important difference here in the Chicago community.”
