Resurrection Health Care to Transfer Saint Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to Legacy Healthcare
Chicago, Ill. – Resurrection Health Care has agreed to transfer the operation of Saint Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Evanston to Legacy Healthcare. The transfer will be completed by June 1, 2010, subject to applicable regulatory and other approvals.
According to John Walton, CEO of Resurrection Senior Services, “After a great deal of study and reflection, our Sponsors and Board of Directors determined that the best way to ensure continuity of care for the residents and employment for our loyal employees was to transfer the operation of Saint Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to Legacy Healthcare, which has provided skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to the Chicago area for many years. We will assist residents, their family members and our employees during this transition.”
Saint Francis Hospital, also in Evanston, does not have operational responsibilities for the nursing center and will not be affected by the transfer.
“Legacy has developed a network of high-quality senior care communities throughout the Chicago area, providing skilled nursing and rehabilitative care,” Walton said. “We are pleased that they will continue to provide outstanding care to our current residents as well as stable employment with expanded opportunities at other Legacy facilities for our dedicated and loyal Saint Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center employees.” Walton added, “Legacy has agreed to operate Saint Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for a minimum of three years, and is expected to invest in needed capital improvements.”
“Our vision for this facility is to replicate The Grove at Lincoln Park, a Legacy-owned premier skilled nursing facility and rehab center. It offers residents exceptional clinical care, as well as unmatched amenities and services, all in a boutique hotel-style setting,” said Yair Zuckerman, Executive Director at Legacy Healthcare. Zuckerman, who currently oversees The Grove at Lincoln Park, will also oversee the Evanston facility. “We will be making a significant investment in this facility as well as in the employee base to help us realize our vision.”M.
Nearly 100 residents currently live or receive therapy and nursing care at Saint Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
